Interns

Working with industry experts, Abbey Hill Interns has been designed to provide focussed support and guidance to enable our young people a route into employment.

Often, employers require a GCSE grade 4/C which immediately limits the opportunities available to students working at Entry Level to Level 1. Our Intern programme aims to change this requirement. By immersing our young people in their chosen workplace to take part in on-the-job training, whilst working towards appropriate qualifications, we feel that they will develop the necessary skills, expertise and confidence to gain employment.

What is the Abbey Hill Interns programme?

  • A study programme for 16-19 year olds (with an EHC plan) who want to move into employment
  • Based mainly with the employer learning the skills necessary to be a successful employee
  • You will take part in a bespoke work placement of at least 6 months
  • Supported by a job coach who will provide tailored support to meet your needs
  • The aim is to obtain paid employment at the end of the programme

Why should I take part in the Abbey Hill Interns programme?

  • Develop skills valued by employers
  • Demonstrate your value in the workplace
  • Develop self-confidence in your ability to perform successfully in employment
  • Gain experience in your chosen industry
  • Become an independent traveller
  • Ultimately, to obtain paid employment on completion of the programme
