Abbey Hill Connect is an extension to Abbey Hill Academy & College. Due to the increased number of pupils requiring a special school placement, and the popularity of our school we have taken the opportunity to create satellite provision located in mainstream schools. We also have a separate satellite provision located in Norton.
Our first satellite provision was created at Weston Junior Academy and has been open since September 2018. Due to its success, an additional Connect site opened in September 2019, catering for lower primary aged children (Years 1-3). Once in KS3, pupils return to Abbey Hill Academy & College and participate in our secondary department curriculum, including accessing a wide range of externally accredited courses. This provides a complete pathway for children entering Abbey Hill Connect.
Our Norton site opened in September 2023 and caters for up to 45 pupils from Year 3 to Year 11. Pupils follow the same curriculum and have the same opportunities as their peers at Abbey Hill's main site.
Abbey Hill Connect offers the opportunity for pupils to be educated by specialist staff, with the same personalised approach to learning and small class groups as those attending Abbey Hill Academy & College. All staff undergo the same training as their counterparts on the main site and high staff to pupil ratios continue to exist in each class.
Admission to Abbey Hill Connect is controlled via the Local Authority. Children must have an EHC Plan with either ‘Communication and Interaction’ or ‘Cognition and Learning’ as their primary need. If you require more information or to discuss the transition arrangements for your child, please contact Mrs Mottram-Clarke
