Staying Safe Online
Many children and young people spend a lot of time online – it can be a great way for them to socialise, learn and have fun.
However, the online world does pose risks such as cyber-bullying and access to inappropriate content. Young people with learning difficulties may struggle to identify risky behaviours associated with the online world, or to make sensible decisions to keep themselves safe.
At Abbey Hill School & College we have a robust approach to online safety, with safe habits being taught from a young age and revisited regularly then built on throughout the school. We promote the SMART rules - click here to learn more about the SMART rules.
It’s important that you talk to your child about staying safe online. You may want to explore the parents online tool ’NetAware’, developed by the NSPCC and O2, to agree with your children what apps and social networks they can use.
