Support for Parents and Carers
We place great value on working in partnership with parents, carers and families. We also work closely with other services to ensure the wellbeing of our pupils through a holistic approach, having Learning Disability Outreach (CAMHS) in School, Speech and Language therapy, Occupational therapy (including sensory integration and sensory diets), the school nurse and a careers adviser on site each week.
Communication is generally through home school diaries (used across younger classes, all Autism Support classes, and elsewhere if there is a need) or feel free to contact Reception via telephone. Parents/carers are welcome to come in to meet with class teams or relevant staff by arrangement. We also use ’Teacher2Parent’, a text messaging and email service to communicate school news, events and other important information.
Parents afternoons are held twice a year, which are an opportunity to meet with class teams but also to consult with wider services like Learning Disability Outreach and Speech and Language therapy on an informal basis.
Every pupil will have an annual review meeting with the class teacher and other relevant professionals.
We build in informal times throughout the year to meet other parents and to have a relaxed chat to staff, for example, we hold regular coffee mornings. We also hold an annual Careers event.
Our Home School Link Workers are able to carry out home visits and attend meetings, advising on a broad range of available support both within and outside school.
